Wandering Thoughts
A Poem on the Good Shepherd of Our Thoughts
“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
— Luke 12:32
Wandering thoughts—
mere wandering sheep—
in need of a Shepherd
to herd and to keep.
To keep them from falling
on nights when they roam,
and to be the strong arm
that will carry them home.
With His rod and His staff
He tenderly guides
each prone-to-roam thought
through each sin-laden mind.
And oh, how those thoughts
calm when with Him they walk,
as He lovingly whispers,
“Fear not, little flock.”
‘Til one day, our thoughts
will no longer roam,
when we breathe our last breath
and God welcomes us home.
