Sundown Sadness
When Darkness Falls
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
— John 1:5
Sundown Sadness
As the sun begins to sink
and dusk gives way to night,
my light within too quickly dims
and peace gives way to fright.
I grasp and cling to fading light,
to seek my Father’s will.
But though I fight with all my might,
the darkness smothers still.
I claw away at Satan’s haze
and gaze up at the moon—
proof that light invades the night
'til dawn consumes it soon.
And when that hour comes, I sing
and watch the sun arise.
My soul lifts too, embracing all
the joy new morns supply.
But still, my soul needs more than dawns
to conquer treacherous nights;
it needs a mighty, Holy One
to beam His glorious light.
So when the twilight reappears
and fears begin to creep,
to Him, I fix my weary eyes,
and there, my soul finds peace.
If you’d like to tangibly support my work, you’re welcome buy one of the coffees that fuels my writing.
Grateful for you.
Grace and peace,
Ali

I love this! it’s so comforting to know that we can look to God whenever we need him. It’s not easy but it’s comforting
What beautiful words to describe such a familiar feeling of angst 😭🙏🏼
