Gaze Upon Our Glorious Savior
Dare to Dwell Deeply Upon Christ’s Humanity
The doctrine of Christ is a never-ending well of comfort.
It is a fountain of assurance.
An endless sea of majesty.
Dwell upon your Savior’s humanity deeply and often.
Think of His gentle posture toward the vulnerable and broken.
His softened eyes tenderly looking upon those who fell at His feet.
His calloused hands extended in love to ones rejected by the world.
Think of His loving embrace.
His arms clothed in linens warmed by the afternoon sun, drawing His children in.
Pressing them against His chest, heart beating steadily against their ear.
Holding them gently but firmly, as though He knew every fiber of their being.
Every need and want.
Every fear and sorrow.
Every hair on their head and cell in their body.
Every sin He would one day die for.
Embracing them as one would embrace a beloved child for the first time.
Think of His warm smile and hearty laugh.
His grief-filled cries at the sight of death.
Think of His intense voice and fierce eyes as He approached religious hypocrites.
Think of the hours spent on His knees alone, whispering prayers to His Father.
Prayers of sorrow, longing, joy, and hope.
Think of the tears intermingled with drops of bloody sweat on His tanned cheeks in the garden, knowing what was to come.
Think of the crown of thorns placed upon His matted hair.
His anguished cries to His Father as He bore the wrath you deserved.
The sorrow and ache He felt being forsaken by His dearest friends in His weakest moment.
Our sinless Savior died the death of a criminal… for you.
Think of the utter fatigue He felt as He released His final breath.
Think of His return.
Robes of white and eyes like fire.
The same man who quietly kneeled to wash feet—
the man who shared humble meals with friends—
now roaring like a lion. Conquering death once and for all.
A gentle and lowly, yet strong and mighty Savior.
A glorious King.
This is the Jesus who loves you.
Do not forget it.
Dwell upon it often.
If you’d like to support my work, you’re welcome to buy one of the coffees that fuels my writing.
Grateful for you.
Grace and peace,
Ali
